Відеоробота створена як тиха рефлексія на трагедію підриву Каховської ГЕС та екологічну катастрофу, що принесла паніку, втрату та загрозу. На противагу хаосу та болю, у відео розгортається простір спокою й гармонії — поема про море, його відновлення та незламну силу.
Органічні абстрактні фігури постають як живі тіла, що адаптуються, шукають нову форму, перероджуються, але не зникають. Вони нагадують метафоричні істоти з глибин — ніжні, крихкі й водночас стійкі. В їхніх повільних рухах відчувається ритм природи, що завжди долає руйнування.
Подібно до Довженкової «Поеми про море», де трагедія й зміни природи перетворюються на символ оновлення, Sea Poem говорить про велич стихії, її здатність зцілювати й відроджувати життя, нагадуючи, що навіть після катастрофи існує непорушна сила відновлення.
Sea Poem is a video work created as a quiet reflection on the destruction of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Dam in southern Ukraine in 2023 — a catastrophe that triggered massive flooding, ecological devastation, panic, and displacement. In contrast to the violence and shock of this event, the video unfolds as a space of calm and harmony — a poem about the sea, its slow recovery, and its enduring vitality.
Organic, abstract figures appear as living bodies that adapt, search for new configurations, and undergo transformation without disappearing. They resemble metaphorical creatures from underwater depths — delicate and fragile, yet resilient. In their slow, fluid motion, one senses the rhythm of nature, a force that persists and regenerates even after profound destruction.
The title also resonates with Poem of the Sea (1958), a film by the renowned Ukrainian filmmaker Oleksandr Dovzhenko. In his work, the reshaping of a landscape becomes a metaphor for renewal. Similarly, Sea Poem speaks about the magnitude of natural forces and their ability to heal and restore life. It suggests that even after catastrophe, there remains an unshakeable power of regeneration — a reminder of nature's capacity to endure, transform, and begin again.
