МЕТАНОЯ METANOIA

METANOIA – давньогрецьке поняття, що описує глибоку зміну мислення, сприйняття та внутрішнього стану людини. Це не просто зміна думки, це момент, коли попередній спосіб бачити себе і світ більше не відповідає реальності. Фестиваль сучасного діджитал мистецтва «METANOIA» розповідає про людину, яка змінюється разом зі світом, навіть якщо не обирала цієї зміни.

Ми живемо в реальності, де великі історичні події перестали бути чимось далеким і винятковим, вони стали частиною повсякденності. Світ змінюється політично, технологічно, соціально й фізично, іноді настільки швидко, що людина не встигає усвідомити, що саме змінилося всередині неї. Війна в Україні є не темою, яку митці мусять осмислювати, а середовищем, у якому сьогодні формується їхній досвід. Ми можемо не створювати мистецтво про війну, але ми вже не можемо існувати поза її впливом.

Змінюється наше відчуття часу, тіла, дому, безпеки, близькості, пам'яті, майбутнього. Змінюється мова, якою ми говоримо одне з одним, змінюється спосіб, у який ми споживаємо інформацію, взаємодіємо з технологіями та сприймаємо реальність. «METANOIA» досліджує ці зміни не на рівні великих історичних наративів, а через особистий досвід. Що відбувається з людиною, коли зовнішній світ постійно змушує її переосмислювати себе? / Де проходить межа між адаптацією та трансформацією? / Що ми втрачаємо, коли вчимося жити в новій реальності і що набуваємо? / Чи можемо ми залишатися собою, якщо самі умови нашого існування постійно змінюються?

Цифрові технології в цьому контексті – не просто інструмент, вони є частиною самого середовища, у якому відбувається сучасна людина. Екран, алгоритм, штучний інтелект, віртуальна присутність, цифрова пам'ять, генеративні системи, мережеві комунікації – усе це вже не зовнішні технології, якими ми користуємося. Вони поступово змінюють те, як ми думаємо, пам'ятаємо, спілкуємося, бачимо себе та конструюємо власну реальність. Тому фестиваль відкритий до робіт, у яких цифрове може бути: матеріалом; інструментом; середовищем; співрозмовником; способом фіксації; способом дослідження; джерелом конфлікту; або об'єктом критичного осмислення. Нас цікавить не технологічна складність роботи сама по собі, а що відбувається з людиною через взаємодію з технологією.

METANOIA – an ancient Greek concept describing a profound change in a person's thinking, perception, and inner state. It is not simply a change of mind, but a moment when the previous way of seeing oneself and the world no longer corresponds to reality. The contemporary digital art festival “METANOIA” is about a person who changes along with the world, even when they did not choose this change.

We live in a reality where major historical events have ceased to be something distant and exceptional; they have become part of everyday life. The world is changing politically, technologically, socially, and physically, sometimes so rapidly that a person does not have time to realize what exactly has changed within them. The war in Ukraine is not a subject that artists are obliged to reflect on, but an environment in which their experience is being formed today. We may not create art about the war, but we can no longer exist outside its influence.

Our sense of time, body, home, safety, closeness, memory, and future is changing. The language we use to communicate with one another is changing, as is the way we consume information, interact with technology, and perceive reality. “METANOIA” explores these changes not on the level of grand historical narratives, but through personal experience. What happens to a person when the outside world constantly forces them to rethink themselves? / Where is the boundary between adaptation and transformation? / What do we lose when we learn to live in a new reality, and what do we gain? / Can we remain ourselves if the very conditions of our existence are constantly changing?

In this context, digital technologies are not simply a tool; they are part of the very environment in which the contemporary human exists. The screen, algorithm, artificial intelligence, virtual presence, digital memory, generative systems, networked communications – all of these are no longer external technologies that we use. They are gradually changing the way we think, remember, communicate, see ourselves, and construct our own reality. Therefore, the festival is open to works in which the digital can be: a material; a tool; an environment; an interlocutor; a means of documentation; a means of research; a source of conflict; or an object of critical reflection. We are interested not in the technological complexity of the work itself, but in what happens to a person through their interaction with technology.
